Essay Competition

Students registered in law faculties at Canadian universities are invited to submit papers to The Allan Falconer Memorial Student Essay Competition in Family Law. Articles may be on any topic related to the field of family law. The submission deadline is September 1 of each year. The winner will receive a $200 award and may have his/her essay published in the spring issue of the Canadian Journal of Family Law.

Allan Falconer was a UBC law student who died tragically during his third year while on a Faculty of Law exchange program at the University of Melbourne in Australia. Allan was a former business manager of the Journal. The essay competition was created in 1993 to honour Allan and acknowledge his major contribution to the Journal.
