Submissions to the Journal

The Canadian Journal of Family Law is a refereed journal published two times per year. The Journal invites the submission of articles, commentaries and book reviews pertaining to all aspects of family law from members of the legal, social science, psychological, medical, political science and other disciplines. All submissions are reviewed by qualified external readers.

Manuscripts intended for publication should be typewritten, double spaced, either in English or in French. The Journal would prefer submissions by e-mail using Word for Windows format. Quotations should be distinguished from the text by single spacing. Manuscripts should include footnotes rather than endnotes and follow the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation, 6th Edition. Articles, ideally, should not exceed forty typewritten pages - 8,000 to 10,000 words. If the article is a long one or contains complex material, the use of subheadings to break up the text is encouraged.

Contributors are asked to provide a "cover page" to the manuscript with the title of the article, the author's name, a brief statement of qualifications, any acknowledgements or credits and a one paragraph summary or abstract of the article.

Unless the Editorial Board specifically permits otherwise, only original, previously unpublished manuscripts will be accepted. The Editorial Board reserves the right to alter grammatical construction, punctuation and citations to conform with the general style of the Journal and with the accepted rules of grammar.
