Feminist Community

Many students come to law school with academic and activist backgrounds in feminism. Others develop an interest in feminism during their legal studies. At UBC Law, we have worked towards creating a space for these commitments to be respected, encouraged and developed further in a legal education context.  The Centre for Feminist Legal Studies (CFLS) is instrumental in integrating community organizations with the academic environment of UBC Law.  Over the past 11 years, the CFLS has collaborated with different organizations, presented lectures by local community organizers and front-line workers and has hosted visitors from Canada and abroad.  There are many opportunities for feminist law students to become involved with the greater Vancouver community by participating in any of the social events and research opportunities that are geared toward feminist students.  We also invite members of the wider feminist community to contact the CFLS if you are interested in presenting a lecture, collaborating with the law faculty, or contributing to our newsletter, LawFemme, published three times a year.

Our weekly lecture series is open to everyone!
