Students
There are a number of ways in which students can become involved with the Centre for Feminist Legal Studies .
Volunteer: Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday to help take care of the Centre and keep it open for students to use. Lending a hand at the Centre is a great way to meet other women within the Faculty, and to become familiar with feminist scholarship. Volunteers are welcome to study or host study groups during their shifts.
Write an article for LawFemme, the CFLS Newsletter: Short submissions to LawFemme are accepted three times per year. The newsletter is distributed to students, faculty and friends of the CFLS, and is an excellent way to publish your work.
Attend the Lecture Series
or another CFLS event: During
the school year, the Centre hosts a weekly lecture series
featuring feminist scholars, activists, lawyers and community
members. Everyone is welcome. These lectures are held on Wednesdays
from 12:30 - 1:30 pm. Throughout the year, the Centre hosts
a number of other events that students are welcome to attend,
including the annual Marlee
Kline Lecture in Social Justice.
Join the Mentorship Program: The goal of the mentorship program is to create a supportive link between female law students and professional women who work in a variety of law-related positions.
Take part in the Women's Caucus (or other student groups): The active student-run Women's Caucus organizes several events each year, including the annual Women and the Law Dinner and the annual I Heart Henry Extravaganza, which they co-host with Law Students for Choice (LSFC).
