UBC Christian Law Students AssociationA service-oriented community of law students putting their faith into action |

AffiliationsThe UBC Christian Law Students Association is an independent club that is part of the Law Students' Society at UBC. However, because of our limited resources and common purposes, the CLSA enjoys close working relationships with other organizations. Christian Legal Fellowship (CLF)The below quoted paragraph was taken from the "About us" link on the CLF website. "Christian Legal Fellowship (CLF) is a national not-for-profit, charitable organization founded in 1978 out of the conviction that the vocation of law is a calling from God. With God's calling comes the responsibility and stewardship of integrating Christian faith and law. As Christian lawyers, law students, legal professionals and interested friends, we recognize the privilege and responsibility of joining together as a national voice to affirm our Christian convictions." In the past, the CLSA has received funding and other invaluable resources from the CLF. Student ministry is a big priority for the CLF, and the CLF hosts a National Student Conference each year at a different law school. Indeed, the CLSA worked closely with CLF last year to host the third annual CLF National Student Conference at UBC this past February. Graduate & Christian Union (Intervarsity Christian Fellowship) at UBCThe below quoted paragraph was taken from the "About us" link on the GCU website. "There
are certain convictions which compose the ethos of the Grad Christian Union. We have a
tradition at UBC, but our ideas are constantly under revision in order to meet the needs
of graduate students. Thus we will continue some proven efforts and add some new
dimensions this year. We are currently exploring different ways to cooperate with GCU. We maintain regular contact with GCU to keep each other updated on our different events, and help to promote each others' events. We are also finding opportunities to support each other such as tapping into each others' resources and praying for each other.
In addition to these formal affiliations, the CLSA also forms ad hoc partnerships with other LSS clubs to host events that share a similar purpose. For example, in the past, the CLSA co-hosted a lecture by Professor Micheal Horner on Ethics in Practice with the Phi Delta Phi chapter (Ethics Club) at the UBC law school. |
