CLSA Legal Buddy ProgramINTRODUCTION The CLSA runs an unofficial extension of the Law School's "Legal Buddy" program, where Christian first year students can be paired with an upper year CLSA member mentor. The idea is for all Christian first year students to have someone to go to with their questions and struggles of being a first year student at UBC law who shares their Christian values and life purpose, and thus can speak to the more important issues. HOW TO APPLY Most CLSA mentor pairings are made in the first 2-3 weeks of September, so please sign up at our table at clubs days (first Thursday of classes), at our first meeting of the year, or send an e-mail indicating your interest, along with your contact info, gender, and a bit about yourself (just so that we can try to match you with someone with similar interests) to ubc_clsa@yahoo.ca. Even if you miss the September pairings rush, there is probably still a mentor available to you, so write us! An extra note... Since we can't set up the mentor-mentee pairings until the school year has started, many of you will already have been assigned a standard law school "legal buddy", in addition to your CLSA mentor. As the year progresses, you may wish to keep in contact with both, or you may find that one of the two is a richer connection for you. It's up to you to decide how often to meet with either or both. The idea is just to give you the option of having a Christian "go-to person". |
