Examples from Ismaeli and Christian perspectives


Presented by FAZAL BHIMJI and LEANNE HARDER

Speaker Bios:
FAZAL BHIMJI’s diverse dispute resolution practice includes mediation, negotiation, investigation and arbitration. Fazal served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Science and Technology Growth Fund and on the Executive of the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association, as well as a member of the NAV CANADA Advisory Committee which advises on the safety and delivery of air traffic services. Fazal’s main areas of interest are Transportation, Employment, Workplace, Human Rights and General Civil. Fazal is a member of the Delta Property Assessment Panel which he currently Chairs, and has recently joined the faculty of the Justice Institute. More recently, Fazal has presented on the impact of culture in mediation to organizations such as the Canadian Association of Administrators of Labour Legislation.

LEANNE HARDER has mediated civil and family disputes since 2002. She is a member of the Small Claims Mediator Roster and the Child Protection Mediator Roster. Her specialties include collaborative decision-making in Aboriginal child welfare, and conflict dynamics within Christian faith-based communities. She looks for the common values below the “black and white” differences as a foundation in her work. She is a Registered Social Worker with a Certificate in Conflict Resolution-Mediation from the Justice Institute of BC. She also completed a Masters in Adult Education specializing in program evaluation within multi-cultural organizations.

Attendance at the speaker series is free for CoRe members and volunteers, $20 for others. Pay ahead online or bring a cheque or exact change to pay at the door. CoRe annual memberships for 2011 are available for $50. Pre-pay online or pay with exact change at the door.

The CoRe Clinic is an approved continuing development provider for the Law Society of BC. Its Speaker Series events are pre-approved educational activities for professional development credit.
