2012 - CoRe Clinic Speaker Series

Martin GolderTuesday, March 13, 2012
Time: 4:30pm until 6:00pm

Join SHARON SUTHERLAND as she updates and expands upon her very popular ADRIC conference presentation on mediation on television.

Professor Sutherland explores the rise of mediation on television as a means to examine increasing public awareness of mediation and shifting public perceptions of mediation and mediators. While Professor Sutherland devotes too much time to watching television, she definitely can't watch everything and therefore welcomes any and all help in identifying television episodes and series that feature mediation and mediators. She encourages you to email her with suggestions at coreclinic1@gmail.com.

Speaker bio:
SHARON SUTHERLAND is an Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Law and Clinic Supervisor at the CoRe Clinic. Before entering law school, Sharon completed all but her thesis towards a Ph.D. in Drama exploring the representation of law in Canadian television and film. As a legal scholar, Sharon has partnered with CoRe board member and Columbia Law School Ph.D. student, Sarah Swan, in writing numerous articles and book chapters on law on television.

Sharon and Sarah will be co-hosting a conference on the works of Joss Whedon at UBC in July 2012 and encourage anyone interested in Law and Television to consider attending some or all of that conference. Contact Sharon at: coreclinic1@gmail.com for details.
