Law 396 - Fisheries Law This course will provide students with an introduction to the legal regimes that govern access to and management of the ocean-based fisheries in British Columbia. It will also provide opportunities to investigate particular aspects of the law of fisheries in some detail. Topics covered include: Aboriginal fisheries law; fisheries jurisdiction (domestic and international); the common law of fisheries; fisheries management and licensing regimes; Aboriginal and treaty rights to fish; Fisheries Act prosecutions and defences; international agreements; and the impact of environmental laws.
