May 26-29, 2002
Set in the marvelous natural and scholarly environment of Green College, this three day workshop is designed to provide faculty and senior graduate students with an opportunity for extended socio/legal/historical discussion based on a core set of readings. The readings, selected and introduced by distinguished legal historians and drawn from some of the outstanding work that considers law and legal institutions in historical contexts, will be distributed before the workshop. Participants will come prepared for a discussion based on those readings, although some time will be allowed for reading during the workshop. The workshop immediately precedes the joint meeting of the Canadian Law and Society Association / Association Canadienne Droit et Society and USA Law & Society Association in Vancouver.
