Jane received her Bachelor of Arts
in 1968 and Bachelor of Laws in 1974, both from the University of Saskatchewan. She was
admitted to the Saskatchewan Bar in 1976, and received her Queen's Counsel designation in
1994. She was elected Bencher of the Law Society of Saskatchewan in 1994, and is currently
serving her second term as Bencher.
Jane has been employed by the Saskatchewan Legal Aid
Commission since 1995 as an articling student, staff lawyer, legal director of rural and
city offices, and since 1992, the Chair of the Saskatchewan Legal Aid Commission. She has
direct responsibility for the 62 lawyers located in 13 area offices throughout the
province, as well as management and administrative roles in the Commission.
Jane has been active in legal matters including the
executive of Bar Associations, presenter and organizer of numerous continuing legal
education seminars, lecturer in Criminal Law at Bar Admission Courses, and on Advisory
Board of Executive Program co-ordinated by the College of Commerce.
In her term as Bencher, Jane has been Chair of
Discipline Committee, Chair of Ethics and Chair of Gender Equity Committee.
