Welcome to the new web space for the University of British Columbia chapter of Phi Delta Phi, also called the "McLachlin Inn."
Founded in 2001, the UBC Chapter of Phi Delta Phi is part of an international network of more than 200,000 law students and legal practitioners worldwide.
Many prominent members of the legal community have been Phi Delta Phi members, including:
- Chief Justice of Canada Beverley McLachlin
- Supreme Court Justice Rosalie Abella
- Supreme Court Justice Claire L'Heureux-Dube
- Legal scholar Peter Hogg
- US Supreme Court Chief Justice William Rehnquist
- US Presidents Theodore and Franklin D Roosevelt
Later in 2011, the UBC Law Chapter will look to host the following main events:
- Phi Delta Phi essay competition: a long-standing Phi Delta Phi tradition, students of all levels are welcome to make submissions on broader questions of ethics and the law. For competition details, timing, and rules, please visit our essay competition page.
- Phi Delta Phi Ignite event: This engaging event is patterned after Ignite sessions around the world, a collaboration whose motto is "Enlighten us. But make it quick." Our event will feature a number of UBC Law students presenting on engaging topics in no more than five minutes each. For more details, please see our Ignite event.
